A dedicated email address for developer accounts

Keep verification links and security alerts from developer accounts out of your personal inbox with a dedicated, permanent address.

What emails do developer platforms actually send?

GitHub and GitLab send a verification link when you create an account, then follow up with security alerts for events like a new SSH key added, a personal access token created, or a sign-in from an unfamiliar location. npm sends its own verification step at signup and can email about publishing or account activity.

These are account-integrity messages. Missing one is not just an inconvenience, it can mean missing a sign that something on the account changed without you.

Why keep a developer account separate?

A personal project, a learning account, or a sandbox used for testing does not need to sit in the same inbox as your day-to-day correspondence. Separating it means a security alert about a new key or token stands out immediately, instead of competing for attention with everything else in a personal inbox.

Set up a developer account address in three steps

  1. Sign in to regmail.me with Google and create a mailbox on a regmail.me domain.
  2. Use that address when creating the GitHub, GitLab, or npm account.
  3. Open the regmail.me inbox to read the verification link and complete the signup.

Check that the address was entered correctly during account creation, since a link sent to a mistyped address has no inbox to reach.

If the address is correct, confirm the mailbox has not already used its daily allowance testing other signups. The free tier delivers up to 5 emails per mailbox per day, and anything past that is dropped for the rest of the day unless paid overflow has been switched on and the account has Energy available.

regmail.me cannot send a reply, so any developer platform flow that expects a response by email will not work from this address. Because the address never expires, it stays available if GitHub, GitLab, or npm later need to send an account recovery email.

Is this suitable for every developer account?

It fits one legitimate personal or project account you want to keep separate from your main inbox. It is not a way to create multiple accounts on the same platform, bypass identity or phone verification, or get around a limit a platform applies to an account, and none of that is covered here.

Whether a given platform accepts a particular domain at signup is decided on their side, not something regmail.me controls.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sign up for GitHub with a regmail.me address?

Yes, enter the address in the email field on the GitHub signup form the same way you would use any other address. GitHub sends its verification link and later security alerts to that inbox. Whether GitHub accepts a given domain at signup is decided on their side, not by regmail.me.

Will I still see security alerts for new SSH keys or tokens?

Yes, any email GitHub, GitLab, or npm send to the address on file lands in the regmail.me inbox within the free daily allowance. Check it directly rather than expecting a forwarded copy. Up to 5 emails a day arrive automatically on the free tier; past that, mail is dropped unless paid overflow is on and Energy is available.

Can a developer platform reply to this address for support?

They can send mail; it lands within the free daily allowance, but the address itself cannot send anything back. A support ticket that expects a reply by email needs a different address for that step, since regmail.me is built only to receive.

What happens to the address if the project sits idle for a while?

It does not expire, so the mailbox keeps working whenever you come back to it, as long as your regmail.me account stays active. That permanence is also why the same address is still there for an account recovery email when the time comes, within the free daily allowance, unlike a temporary inbox that disappears after a short window.
